Description

Sugar Cookie Bars are an easy, crowd-pleasing treat with a soft, buttery cookie base and rich cream cheese frosting. Made in one pan—no rolling or cutting needed—these bars are perfect for holidays, potlucks, or a sweet family dessert.

Cookie Bars:

2 cups granulated sugar

1 cup unsalted butter, softened

3 large eggs

6 tbsp milk

1 tsp pure vanilla extract

5 cups all-purpose flour

1/2 tsp salt

3 tsp baking powder

Frosting:

1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

6 oz cream cheese, softened

1 tsp vanilla extract

Pinch of salt

4 cups powdered sugar

3 tsp milk


Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease an 11×17-inch jelly roll pan.
  • In a large mixing bowl, cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add the eggs, milk, and vanilla, then beat until well combined.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, and baking powder.
  • Slowly combine the dry ingredients with the wet mixture, mixing until everything is well blended.
  • Press the dough evenly into the prepared pan, smoothing the top.
  • Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the edges are slightly golden and the center is firm to the touch.
  • Allow the bars to cool completely in the pan before frosting.
  • To prepare the frosting, blend the butter, cream cheese, vanilla, salt, powdered sugar, and milk until the mixture is creamy and easy to spread.
  • Spread frosting evenly over cooled bars, then slice into squares and serve.

Notes

For best results, use room-temperature butter and cream cheese.

Add sprinkles for festive flair.

Chill before slicing for cleaner cuts.
