Description
Skillet Apple Pie Biscuits are an easy, cozy dessert made with refrigerated biscuits, apple pie filling, and a buttery cinnamon glaze—all baked in one skillet.
Ingredients
8 jumbo refrigerated biscuits
1 (21 oz) can apple pie filling
1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, melted
1/2 cup light brown sugar
1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
For the glaze:
1/3 cup powdered sugar
3–4 tablespoons heavy cream or half-and-half
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Set your oven to 375°F to ensure it’s hot and ready.
- Prepare the Skillet: Use a portion of the melted butter to brush the inside of a 10-inch cast iron skillet.
- Mix Spices: In a small bowl, combine brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
- Coat the Biscuits: Dip each biscuit into the melted butter, then roll in the cinnamon sugar mixture to coat all sides.
- Arrange in Skillet: Place the coated biscuits evenly in the skillet.
- Add Apple Filling: Cut the apples in the pie filling into smaller chunks for easier serving, then spoon over the biscuits.
- Finish with Butter and Sugar: Drizzle remaining melted butter on top and sprinkle the leftover cinnamon sugar mixture.
- Bake: Place the skillet in the oven and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden and puffed.
- Glaze and Serve: Mix powdered sugar with cream to make a smooth glaze, then drizzle over the warm biscuits. Serve immediately and enjoy!
Notes
Use a well-seasoned cast iron skillet to prevent sticking.
Chopped nuts make a great crunchy topping.
Let the biscuits rest before glazing to prevent melting.
