Description
Rice Krispies Treat Monsters are easy no-bake treats made with candy melts, googly eyes, and sprinkles. Theyโre perfect for parties, holidays, or kid-friendly kitchen fun.
Ingredients
1 (12-ounce) bag of candy melts (any color or a mix)
16 Rice Krispies Treats (individually wrapped or homemade)
Candy eyeballs
3 teaspoons shortening or vegetable oil (optional, for smoother coating)
Colored sprinkles (optional)
Instructions
-
Prepare a large baking sheet by lining it with parchment paperโthis makes cleanup a breeze.
-
Divide your candy melts into microwaveโsafe bowls: if youโre using one color, split it into three portions; if using multiple, mix about one-third of each color per bowl.
-
For smoother coating, stir in 1 teaspoon of shortening or vegetable oil into each bowl of candy melts (optional).
-
Microwave each bowl in 20-second increments, stirring well for 10 seconds between intervals, until the candy melts are smooth and completely melted.
-
Remove the wrappers from your Rice Krispies Treats and set them near your dipping station.
-
Fully coat each Rice Krispies Treat in the melted candy, using a spoon to spread it and create a ragged โmonster furโ appearance.
-
Work quicklyโcandy melts set fast! Press on candy eyeballs and sprinkle on colored sprinkles while the coating is still wet.
-
Place each decorated treat onto the parchmentโlined sheet pan.
-
Let them sit at room temperature until the candy coating is completely set. For the best taste and texture, enjoy these treats on the day theyโre prepared.
Notes
Have your decorations ready before coatingโthe candy sets quickly! You can insert sticks into each treat for easier dipping and serving. Avoid refrigerating to prevent cracking.
