Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

  • 1 pound (450 g) chicken breast, cut into bite-sized pieces

  • 4 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 small onion, finely chopped

  • 1/4 cup honey

  • 1/4 cup soy sauce (low-sodium recommended)

  • 2 tablespoons hoisin sauce

  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar

  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil

  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

  • 8 ounces (225 g) noodles (lo mein or spaghetti)

  • 2 cups chicken broth

  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water

  • 2 tablespoons chopped green onions (for garnish)

  • Sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  • Heat olive oil in a large skillet or wok over medium heat. Add chicken and sauté 5–6 minutes until golden. Remove and set aside.

  • In the same pan, cook garlic and onion until fragrant.

  • Stir in honey, soy sauce, hoisin, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes. Simmer for 2 minutes.

  • Add chicken broth and uncooked noodles. Stir well, cover, and cook 8–10 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  • Return chicken to the skillet, add cornstarch slurry, and cook for 1–2 minutes until the sauce thickens.

  • Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds before serving.

Notes

  • Use udon, egg noodles, or rice noodles for variation.

  • Add vegetables like broccoli, bell peppers, or snow peas for extra flavor.

  • Substitute tamari and gluten-free noodles for a gluten-free version.
