Description

Grinch Balls Truffles are colorful no-bake holiday treats made with crushed OREOs, cream cheese, and green candy coating. They’re easy to make, perfect for kids, and decorated with festive sprinkles or red hearts to match the Grinch theme.

Ingredients

Scale

36 OREO cookies

8 oz cream cheese, softened

1 ½ cups green melting wafers or candy melts

½1 tablespoon shortening or coconut oil (optional)

Green food dye (optional)

Red heart sprinkles or festive sprinkles

Instructions

  • Crush the OREOs in a food processor until you have a fine crumb. (Make sure no large cookie chunks remain.)
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese with the crushed cookies. Use a spatula (or electric mixer on low) until no streaks of cream cheese remain and the mixture is smooth.
  • Scoop out the mixture (about 1 tablespoon each) and roll into balls by hand. Place each ball on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Freeze for about 20 minutes (or more) to firm up the balls and make dipping easier.
  • Melt the wafers/candy melts according to the package directions. If needed, stir in shortening or coconut oil to thin the coating. Add green dye (and a little yellow if you’re after the classic “Grinch” green) to achieve a vivid color.
  • Dip each chilled cookie ball into the melted green coating, ensuring full coverage. Use a fork or dipping tool, tap off excess, then quickly decorate with sprinkles or a red heart before the coating sets.
  • Let the coated truffles set completely (either at room temperature if cool, or in the refrigerator). Then serve!

Notes

Use neon green food dye or a green-yellow mix to match the classic Grinch color.

Store at room temperature (1 day), in fridge (up to 1 week), or freeze (may cause coating to crack).

Ghirardelli or Wilton melting wafers work best.
