Description
This Chocolate Cream Cheese Frosting is creamy, chocolatey, and perfect for topping cakes, cupcakes, and brownies. Quick to make, easily customizable, and absolutely delicious!
Ingredients
½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
(Optional) 2 oz melted chocolate
8 oz cream cheese (regular or vegan)
¼ cup butter (or vegan butter)
1 ½ – 3 cups powdered sugar (or erythritol for keto)
1 ½ tsp pure vanilla extract
2–4 tbsp milk of your choice (dairy or plant-based)
Instructions
Bring cream cheese and butter to room temperature for easy and smooth mixing.
Mix the ingredients: In a mixing bowl, combine cream cheese, butter, cocoa powder, vanilla, and 1 ½ cups powdered sugar. Use an electric mixer or stand mixer to beat until creamy and fluffy.
Adjust consistency: If the frosting is too thick, slowly add milk (1 tbsp at a time). If too thin, gradually add more powdered sugar until it reaches your desired texture.
For an extra creamy finish, swap part of the cocoa powder for melted chocolate.
Chill if needed: Cover and refrigerate if not using immediately. Let it soften slightly before spreading.
Notes
Use full-fat cream cheese for the best texture and flavor.
Make up to 3 days ahead; refrigerate and re-whip before using.
Add espresso powder or cinnamon for a flavor twist.
