Description

  • 1 (15.25-ounce) box dark chocolate cake mix

  • 12 tbsp (1 1/2 sticks) cold unsalted butter, thinly sliced

  • Flaky sea salt (optional)

  • Vanilla ice cream (optional, for serving)


Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350ยฐF. Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with cooking spray.

  • Spread the cherry pie filling evenly across the dish.

  • Sprinkle the dry chocolate cake mix evenly on topโ€”do not stir.

  • Arrange sliced cold butter evenly over the cake mix.

  • Scatter fresh cherries over the top and lightly sprinkle with flaky salt if desired.

  • Bake for 50โ€“55 minutes, until the top is slightly crispy and the filling is bubbling at the edges.
