Description

A quick and easy version of the classic Philly cheesesteak made with ground beef, melty provolone, peppers, and onions—ready in 30 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale

1 yellow onion, diced

1 green bell pepper, diced

1 lb ground beef (90% lean)

½ tsp table salt

½ tsp garlic powder

½ tsp black pepper

2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

8 oz provolone cheese

4 hoagie rolls (7” each) or 1 French baguette, cut into 4

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 400 °F (≈ 204 °C).

  • Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Combine the diced onion, green bell pepper, ground beef, salt, garlic powder, and black pepper in the skillet. Cook for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the vegetables are soft and the beef is browned.

  • Meanwhile, slice the hoagie rolls in half (or cut the baguette into four 4‑inch pieces and slice each in half) and place them on a baking sheet.

  • When the beef and vegetables are fully cooked, mix in the Worcestershire sauce. Lay half the slices of provolone cheese over the beef mixture, reduce the heat to low, and allow the cheese to melt (about a couple of minutes), stirring once melted until combined.

  • Use tongs to transfer the beef‑cheese mixture evenly onto the prepared rolls.

  • Place the remaining cheese on top of each sandwich. Bake in the preheated oven for 3‑5 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the rolls are lightly toasted.

  • Remove from the oven, let it rest for a minute, then serve hot.

Notes

Use lean beef to prevent excess grease. Add mushrooms or hot peppers for extra flavor. Toast rolls for a better bite.
